Many users who rely on the largest mobile messaging company, Whatsapp to send new year wishes to their friends and families will be disappointed as the company is planning to shot people down.

This is as a result of the new announcement that some mobile phones using certain operating systems will no longer be compatible to use the free and popular messaging service from December 31.

Whatsapp will be restricting mobile usage to two most popular operating system: Android and IOS.

"As we look ahead to our next seven years, we want to focus our efforts on the mobile platforms the vast majority of people use", according to Mirror Online.

"This was a tough decision for us to make, but the right one in order to give people better ways to keep in touch with friends, family, and loved ones using Whatsapp"

Well, phones like Blackberry OS or BlackBerry 10 will not make it to the message app in 2018.

It's known that Blackberry moved to Android this year but older handsets still use its old software.

Another phone affected is window phone with Microsoft's Window 8.0 or older, which means a lot of Nokia phones that are window based will be left behind.

Others affected are Nokia Symbian S60, Nokia s40.

Phones using Android version 2.3.7 and older will stop working from February 1, 2020.
