Erling Haaland and Antonio Nusa were the different makers for Norway as they beat Cote d’Ivoire 2-1 and advance to the round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Tuesday’s game started with the Africans taking charge of proceedings and had the clearest of chances.

However, Norway’s left-sided winger of Nigerian descent, Antonio Nusa, brilliantly curled the ball to the top right corner to put the Europeans ahead just six minutes before the half-time break.

After the restart, the momentum was still with the Ivorians, who introduced Manchester United forward Amad Traore.

Diallo, whose place on the substitute bench came as a surprise to most Ivorian fans, equalised after coming off the bench.

The dashing winger received the ball in the penalty area and slalomed his way past three defenders at a tight angle before delivering a cute shot that found the back of the net.

Traore also went close after his strike, but his effort from a free kick was pushed away by Norway’s goalkeeper Orjan Nyland.

Erling Haaland tapped home the winner for Norway four minutes from the end.

Norway will face Brazil in the last 16 on Sunday after winning a World Cup knockout match for the first time.
