Assistant coach of the Rwandan national team Eric Nshiminiyama is upbeat that his country’s national team will not lose Friday’s crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier against Nigeria.

The Super Eagles have not won an away fixture in international football against the Amavubi Warriors but the Nigeria team now handled by Eric Chelles is poised to upturn their record.

Nigeria are fourth on the Group C log with three points in four games and are in danger of missing a second consecutive World Cup tournament unless they claim wins on Friday and against Zimbabwe in Uyo on Tuesday, March 25.

Nshiminiyama spoke to the media at the press conference ahead of Friday’s game in Antananarivo.

“We’re not under any pressure,” Nshiminiyama states emphatically.

“This is because we already have our 7 points so Nigeria are the one who are on the pressure because they need this (three) points too but they will not get it,” Nshiminiyama insists.

The Rwanda versus Nigeria clash will kick off at 5 pm Nigerian time.

Zimbabwe and Benin Republic shared the spoils in a draw Thursday evening which sees Benin Republic take the lead in the group with 8 points from five fixtures.
