A section of fans is petitioning the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) to appoint Wazito FC head coach Francis Kimanzi as the Harambee Stars technician following the departure of Jacob “Ghost” Mulee.
The federation announced yesterday that Mulee parted ways with the national team on mutual consent.
Mulee’s assistant Twahir Muhidin and goalkeeping coach Haggai Azande also resigned.
However, assistant coaches Ken Odhiambo and William Muluya will remain with the team as the FKF search for another coach.
“FKF is immensely grateful to Coach Mulee and his departing members of staff for their dedicated service and workmanship. The federation wishes them all the best in their future endeavours,” said the federation in a letter sent to the newsroom.
Mulee was appointed as the team coach last year after Kimanzi left under mysterious circumstances.
Stars played six matches during his ten-month stint, won once, drew four times, and lost once.
They recently drew 0-0 and 1-1 with Uganda and Rwanda in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
In a two-legged fixture, Kenya will face Mali on October 6, 2021, and October 12, 2021©Standard Gazette, 2021.
