According to the media department of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Friday, the Swiss Public Prosecutor has decided to cease all legal proceedings against CAF’s Secretary General, Veron Mosengo-Omba, effective immediately.
Mosengo-Omba, who is from DR Congo, had been under investigation following allegations of mismanagement of funds.
The inquest began in 2024 but the authorities found no evidence or legal grounds to pursue further action against the administrator.
CAF expressed satisfaction with the decision, emphasizing its commitment to upholding ethics, transparency, and good governance, which have been core principles since Dr. Patrice Motsepe’s presidency.
It is unknown what the fate of Mosengo-Omba will become in the scheme of things in African football following the decision to stop the legal proceedings.
Motsepe was reelected as CAF President in 2024.
