Kenya Premier League side Kakamega Homeboyz has bowed out of the CAF Confederation following a heavy defeat at the hands of Al Hilal Benghazi of Libya.

Homeboyz were thrashed 4-1 in a preliminary return match played in Libya on Sunday night.

The host took the lead in the 13th minute from Ifeanyi Eze following several attempts at the opponent’s goal.

Moses Shummah almost levelled for the visitors six minutes after receiving the ball from the left flank, but his shot went wide.

In the 23rd minute, Osama Baleid doubled Al Hilal’s lead through a well-taken free kick at the edge of the box, adding more misery to already tensed Homeboyz.

Things worsened for the visitors, who were making their debut in the continental tournament in the 33rd minute when Eze slotted home the third goal for his team.

However, Moses Mudavadi pulled one for the visitors one minute before the break, making the scoreboard 3-1.

After the break, Homeboyz managed the host’s pressure until in the 87th minute when Al Hilal made in 4-1.

Al Hilal advanced to the next round with a 4-1 aggregate victory. A fortnight ago, the two teams played a scoreless draw in Nairobi.
