The world football governing body, Fifa, has asked Kenya to reinstate the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) officials who were sent packing over alleged misappropriation of funds.
In a letter to Kenya’s Sports Cabinet Secretary Amb. Amina Mohammed on Sunday, Fifa directed the East African country to heed to its order or face dire consequences.
FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura said failure by the government to halt the impasse surrounding football matters in the country will call for suspension from international football activities.
"Going forward, without prejudice to the allegations that have been brought and any prospective trial for offences that may have been committed, FIFA and CAF are requesting that you consider the reinstatement of the FKF Executive Committee as prior thereto," says a portion of the letter to Amina.
Samoura claims Amina's appointment of a caretaker committee to oversee Kenya's football for six months is "illegal" and violates FIFA's policy of non-interference in member associations' football operations.©Standard Gazette, 2021.
