Kenyan Goalkeeper Patrick Matasi Is Officially A Free Agent, Leaves Ethiopia's Saint George

Kenyan custodian Patrick Matasi has left Ethiopian giant Saint George SC with rumours saying that he will reunite with his former club Tusker FC, which plays in Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League.

Matasi has also been linked with the Mombasa-based club, Bandari FC.

He joined St George in 2018 from Tusker FC, and during his three-year stay at the club, he kept 22 clean sheets.

On Friday, July 23, 2021, the 33-year-old paid tribute to the Ethiopian giant. He expressed his gratitude to fans and his teammates for their support.

“Time has come for me to say goodbye to the club that I so loyally served. I leave Ethiopia with more experience, not just in the game but in life in general,” read his social media post.

On June 1 this year, the goalkeeper survived death by a whisker after he was involved in a tragic road accident along Nakuru-Kapsabet highway in Kenya's Rift Valley. He was travelling to Nairobi alongside his wife, son, and relative.
