Mashemeji Derby: Gor Mahia Books A Date With Arch-rival

The two most successful football clubs in Kenya, Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards will clash in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Cup final slated for June 4.

Gor Mahia cruise to the finals after edging Bidco United on Penalties during a semi-final clash held on Sunday. The defending champions won 4-1 after they were held in a 1-1 draw in the regular time.

Midfielder Kenneth Muguna gave Gor a lead in the fourth minute, and David Orem ended equalized in the 19th minute.

On the other hand, AFC Leopards bundled out the first division side Equity Bank FC 6-5 shootout after the game ended in a stalemate.

June 4 will be the second time the two teams will be meeting this year. The first meeting was on February 7 in a premier league clash that ended 0-0.

The winner of the FKF Cup will take home ksh2 million ($20,000) and earn a ticket to represent Kenya in the Caf Confederation Cup.

Mashemeji Derby is the biggest derby in the East African nation.
