Serie A leaders Napoli have turned down the chance to sell Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen permanently to Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray.

Osimhen is currently on loan in Turkey with Galatasaray insisting on no clause for the 2023 African Footballer of the Year to leave this January.

The newspaper revealed on Wednesday that Napoli is poised to wait until the summer when Osimhen’s value will become €75m rather than sell him for less in January.

However, according to Italian publication, II Corriere dello Sport, Galatasaray offered €65m to the player’s parent club, Napoli.

Galatasaray is due to earn €6m should Osimhen leave in January being the only club that can sign him for less because of the financial compensation due to them should an offer be accepted from another club in January.

The striker’s release clause was initially at a staggering €130m but was significantly lowered when he signed a contract extension until the summer of 2027.

Saudi Arabian top side Al Hilal, as well as Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal, were linked to the Nigerian star last summer.
