Super Eagles Beat Guinea, Quality For Next Round
The Super Eagles of Nigeria on Wednesday defeated their Guinean counterpart 1-0 at Alexandria, Egypt in the ongoing Nations Cup.
With this victory, Nigeria becomes the first team at the AFCON 2019 to qualify for the round of 16 with two victories from two.
Team handler Gernot Rohr started the match with a strange line up without captain, Mikel John Obi, while Odion Ighalo, Leon Balogun, Ahmed Musa and Simon Moses came into the starting line up after they were excluded from the first team against Burundi in the opening game.
The Super Eagles dominated the game from the blast of the whistle, but it took Kennent Omeruo's 73rd minute strike to put the Eagles In front and earn all three points.
The Nigerian team next up is against Madagascar.©Standard Gazette, 2021.
