On Monday, President Uhuru Kenyatta praised Marathon World Record holder Eliud Kipchoge for being named Best Male Athlete in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
The President said the prestigious award is a global recognition of Kenya’s prominence as a sporting nation.
He recommended aspiring players to model their careers after Eliud’s determination, humility, hard effort, and patriotism.
Kipchoge, the world’s marathon record holder, was awarded on Sunday, October 24, 2021.
“Winning the ANOC Award for Best Male Athlete at the Tokyo Olympics is an honour. With so many outstanding accomplishments by athletes, I am honoured to be the recipient of this award. Thank you very much for all of your help “He stated.
He was nominated alongside nine others, including Ugandan Joshua Cheptegei, Olympic gold medal winner in the men’s 5000m race.
