Last week the family appealed for financial assistance from Kenyans to airlift the body to Kenya for burial.

"We are bringing Mama Keziah home to rest with us. Grateful for donations to Mpesa: 0726634050 (+254)," stated the card shared on social media.

The family also asked the government to help them obtain special permits to pave the way for the transportation of Kezia's body.

"Now, because of COVID-19, the world is constricted, but at the end of the day, we are appealing to the authorities and the government at large to grant us passage and make it easy for us to bring mama home as soon as possible," Malik said.

By Saturday, a small committee had been established in the UK to oversee the issuance of the death certificate.

"The death certificate has not been issued. The hospital updated that it may be issued on Monday or Tuesday next week," Malik told the Star, the local daily.

Kezia's death happened few weeks after the demised of Sarah Obama, grandmother to President Obama.

She died at a Kenyan hospital after a long illness aged 99. She was laid to rest at Kogello in Siaya County, Western Kenya.
