16 motorcycle riders accused of assaulting a female driver detained for 15 days

A Nairobi court has detained sixteen motorcycle riders who allegedly assaulted a woman ON March 4, 2022.

James Mutinda, Samuel Wafula, Charles Omondi, Japheth Bosire, Hassan Farah, Wanjiku Lincon, Harrison Maina, among others were reported to have allegedly assaulted the female diplomat on March 4, along Wangari Maathai Road in Nairobi.

Milimani Principal Magistrate Robert Shikwe ruled on Thursday that the prosecution's request to hold the 16 accused was justified.

He stated that the case was of public interest and that police should be allowed more time to investigate the suspects.

In her plea, Inspector of Police Yvonne Mwanzia requested that the suspects be held for 20 days in order for her and other officers to conduct their investigations.

According to the officer, the woman was driving the vehicle along Wangari Mathai road when was involved in a traffic road accident with a rider.

Suddenly, a swarm of riders surrounded her vehicle and attacked her, accusing her of hitting one of their colleagues.

They robbed her a mobile phone valued at $1300.
