The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has granted licenses to 18 Kenyan clubs to participate in the 2023/24 FKF Premier League.

The 18 clubs, which include the defending champions Gor Mahia, were cleared after meeting the requirements set by the federation.

One of the requirements is that each club have a young team with at least two age divisions and that each youth squad participate in sanctioned competitions.

Each must give all players full access to medical support services, including but not limited to an annual medical assessment for all players eligible to play for the club’s first team.

In addition, each club must have at least one women’s first team competing in an FKF-sanctioned competition.

Every club must also have a stadium accessible to host home matches and have access to training facilities for its teams, including its junior and women’s teams.

Other requirements are having office space and personnel.

However, FC Talanta has been sanctioned for failure to meet the criteria of presenting a Women’s team.

Therefore, the club has been fined USD 3000 for not abiding by the laws.
