Police in Kenya are investigating a suspected Al Shabaab militants attack following an ambush on a security team on July 5, 2023, at the Ogorwen area in Mandera County, Northeastern part of the country.
Reports indicate that a heavy gunfire exchange ensued between the officers who were on patrol and the militants leaving twenty militants and eight officers injured.
The injured officers were rushed to hospital for medical attention, and a manhunt for escaped militants was launched.

During the attack, police recovered assorted weapons from the Scene of Crime.
