Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) officials on Wednesday evening seized 300 crates of illicit liquor in Chogoria town, eastern Kenya.
One person was nabbed during the operation led by the officers and detectives drawn from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
The arrest was made following a tip-off by a member of the public who informed them that the liquor labelled “Santa Ice” had flooded the market and had no KRA custom stamp as required by the law.
“We have seized 300 crates of illicit liquor, each containing 25 500 millilitre bottles belonging to a businesswoman,” said KRA’s Bramwel Major.
The liquor is reportedly belonging to a businessman who is still at large.
It will be delivered to the KRA warehouse in the Northern Region for destruction.
