A Kenyan court has sentenced a 65-year-old man to 45 years imprisonment for kidnapping and sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl.
Granton Mwawati Mwajumwa committed the offences at Migadini in Changamwe, Coastal county of Mombasa, in 2019. The crimes were committed on various days between August 13 and November 6, 2019, according to the court.
Mombasa Principal Magistrate said the court has enough evidence that Mwajumwa committed the heinous act.
The court utilised the testimony of nine witnesses and a medical report to support the accuser's guilt.
Mr Mwajuma faced three offences, including kidnapping the minor, sexually assaulting her and committing an indecent act with a child.
"In respect of count one, the suspect will serve five years imprisonment and 40 years for count two. The sentences will run concurrently," ruled the magistrate.
