An elderly man committed suicide in the wee hours of Friday in Kiambu County, Central Kenya.
Moses Ng'ethe Kinyanjui is said to have left his bedroom to answer the call of nature, but he took too long to return, forcing his wife to search for him.
"After a while, his wife questioned why her husband had stayed too long. She searched the premises after not finding him in the home, only to discover his body hanging from the rafters," said the police.
It was purported that Ng'ethe took away his life after a long struggle with stomach cancer.
Elsewhere, a body of a teacher who went missing on December 22, 2022, was found nailed to a coffin in his Nyeri home in central Kenya.
Joseph Gathogo's remains were found inside his living room after a nasty stench emanated from his home, causing the homestead's caretaker to contact local authorities, who quickly broke into the deceased's house.
The naked body of the instructor was discovered fastened to the coffin, which had been placed inside a boat-like structure that served as a makeshift grave marker. A flower bouquet, a black flag and scrolls with strange writings, and a cow horn had been set beside the boat-like construction.
Poisonous drugs were also discovered at the spot. Police have launched investigations into the matter.©Standard Gazette, 2021.
