A granny commits suicide in Siaya

A 62-year-old man has committed suicide in Ugenya, Siaya County, Southwestern Kenya.

John Obiero Amenya's body was discovered dangling from a tree a few meters from his home by his wife.

Witness says the man and his family were attacked last night by one of her sisters-in-law, who claimed that his son had stolen her car battery, an issue that enraged the old man and led to his untimely death, according to the witness claims.

The eyewitness claims that Obiero went to sleep after the alleged attack and awoke early the next morning to attend to a bodily need, but he never returned until his body was discovered.

Obiero's wife reportedly became suspicious when he didn't return home in a reasonable amount of time, resulting in a search that ended in the discovery of his body.

Since the deceased did not leave a suicide note, it is not clear why he took his own life.

The body was transferred to the morgue.
