Several people are feared dead after a lorry crashes into a church compound that also houses a nursery school in Isiolo, 285 kilometres north of the capital Nairobi.
Eyewitnesses told the Standard Gazette that the lorry was travelling at a high speed on the Meru-Isiolo Road when it hit a speed bump and lost control.
The Monday incident at Pentecost Church left many others injured.
School children, business operators along the road and motorcycle riders are said to be the victims.
Isiolo County Red Cross Co-ordinator Abdikadir Ali said at least four bodies have been retrieved; two adults and two children.
The injured were rushed to the hospital for medication.
The accident came hours after another accident consumed five lives in Nyamira, south-western Kenya.
Nyamira County Commissioner Michael Lesmam said the vehicle’s driver lost control and hit a stationary lorry.©Standard Gazette, 2021.
