A Nairobi Kangemi Bridge Collapses, Trapping Scores

A newly constructed Nairobi’s Kangemi Bridge has collapsed, injuring several people.

The incident occurred on Monday evening. Among the victims were traders who were near the flyover and constructors who were on the site.

By 7 pm, four people were rescued and rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment, and several were feared trapped in the rubble.

Rescue missions were underway into the night as well-wishers, and first responders try to save those covered by the rubble.

The accident caused heavy snarl-up in the busy Waiyaki-Highway where the bridge was situated.

Rumours had it that the bridge had been constructed over loose soil.

By the time of this publication, there was no official statement from the authorities in charge.
