On Saturday evening, a Kenyan police Chief Inspector Ann Wanjiru Waiganjo collapsed and died while attending a colleague’s farewell party in the Upper Hill area, Nairobi.
Police reports indicate that the deceased collapsed at Baita restaurant shortly after arriving.
“On July 3, 2021, at around 1739hrs duty officer Capitol Hill received a report from SCCIO Langata, Mr Abdirashid Yakub, that one No.235389 CI (w) Ann Wanjiru Waiganjo the Officer in charge DCI Karen suddenly collapsed while at Baita Restaurant within Upper Hill,” read part of the report.
Colleagues who spoke the Standard Gazette on anonymity disclosed that Ann complained of chest pains before she collapsed.
She was rushed to Nairobi Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
What might have led to her death is yet to be established. An autopsy will be conducted on her body to find the reality.
She was attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Karen, Nairobi.
The officer early this year came to the limelight after reports indicated that she had been married to two men, David Murimi and David Mbitu.
However, later it emerged that her marriage with the former had been dissolved in court on the grounds of physical and verbal abuse.©Standard Gazette, 2021.
