A police officer accused of throwing a girlfriend off the balcony has been arrested after being on the run for two days.
Police constable Kevin Amwayi surrendered on Sunday night and is being held in police custody pending investigations.
Amwayi is purported to have pushed his lover Jackline Muthoni of their fourth-floor apartment in the Ngumba area, Nairobi.
The woman fell on the rear windscreen of a salon car that had been parked outside the building. She was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
The officer’s colleagues said quarrels had ensued between the two before the incident.
Neighbours who responded to the loud bang narrated to the Standard Gazette that the suspect threatened them with a gun before fleeing the scene.
Amwayi has denied throwing Muthoni off the balcony, saying she jumped off in rage in a statement recorded to detectives.
He is set to face murder charges after the investigations are complete. Post Mortem is scheduled for tomorrow.©Standard Gazette, 2021.
