A seven-year-old boy has drowned in Lake Naivasha, Northwest of Nairobi.

The incident took place when the boy was swimming at Tarambeta beach in the company of his friends.

According to an eyewitness, the boy drowned after being hit by strong currents.

“The other boys only watched helplessly as the waves swept him far out to sea.

They called for assistance, but by the time it arrived, it was too late,” said an eyewitness.

The boy’s body was retrieved from the water and taken to a nearby mortuary.

Naivasha police boss Samuel Waweru said the investigations are ongoing to unveil what transpired.

The incident came a day after a 24-year-old man drowned while swimming with friends at a Nairobi swimming pool.

In an incident that took place on December 19, 2022, Cyrus Kioko Muia was enjoying himself at Park Road Primary pool when he suddenly became unresponsive.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital, Guru Nanak, where he was pronounced dead.

Police have launched investigations to establish what might have led to the man’s death. His friends and the management of the pool have been questioned.
