Police in Kenya have arrested a pastor who recently claimed God sent him to President William Ruto.
Joseph Chenge, a priest from Homa Bay in southwestern Kenya, was arrested on Wednesday night, along with eleven church members.
In a video that has been circulating online, the founder and head of Jerusalem Mowar Church was caught speaking in tongues and claims to have a prophetic message for President Ruto.
Police are concerned about some of Mr Chenge’s activities at the church. Mr. Chenge was accused of engaging in dubious religious practices and teachings.
He was also claimed to be holding members of his congregation captive. Some of those arrested there, according to the police, were ill and needed medical attention.
According to reports, he prayed for them to heal them.
The pastor is also accused of operating an unregistered church.
This comes following the arrest of self-proclaimed Jesus known as Eliud Wekesa. Also, cult Pastor Paul Mackenzie who is said to have forced his followers to fast to death to see Jesus. More than 120 people have been confirmed dead as a result of Mackenzie’s indoctrination.
