Seven people died in a road accident along the Thika-Garissa Highway in Kitui, South Eastern Kenya.
The crash involved a bus and a van at the black spot between Kanyonyoo and Kivandini markets along the highway.
The van heading toward Mwingi was reported to have lost control and rolled several times before it collided with an oncoming bus. The bus was heading to Nairobi when the incident occurred.
The Private van may have had a tyre burst before losing control and veering off the road, according to police.
The accident came three days after 11 people died in a similar accident while on their way to a dowry payment ceremony. The 14-seater vehicle they were travelling in veered off the road and rolled several times.
Reports indicate the vehicle was overloaded and speeding, and the driver was under the influence of alcohol.
Also, a train rammed into a lorry ferrying workers from a construction company in Ruiru, Kiambu county, central Kenya, on Monday, killing five people.©Standard Gazette, 2021.
