The Atheist in Kenya Society on Monday urged the government to implement a one-child policy to control the growing population.
In a statement, the society said adopting the policy will provide numerous advantages for future generations, including alleviation of unemployment.
“A decrease in the Kenyan population will lead to less competition among citizens for jobs and unemployment will be alleviated,” read the statement in part.
It said the one-child policy will also promote family planning, control population growth, and raise the Kenyan population’s life quality.
“Too many births in Kenya is one reason why we are experiencing economic hardships and cultural backwardness. The population should be controlled to combat poverty in Kenya,” it stated.
