Two Kenyan athletes, Felix Korir and Emmanuel Saina, have been handed a three-year ban each after being found guilty of doping.

The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) said in a statement that it took that move after the duo tested positive for 19-Norandrosterone (19-NA), a metabolite contained in nandrolone.

AIU revealed Korir's ban was reduced by one year after he pleaded guilty of anti-doping violations.

"On September 22, 2022, the athlete returned a signed admission of Anti-Doping Rule Violations and Acceptance of Consequences Form.

"The Athlete shall therefore receive a one (1) year reduction in the asserted period of ineligibility pursuant to Rule 10.8.1 based on an early admission and acceptance of sanction," the statement read.

Saina's sentence was also reduced by a year following his early admission.
