A family from Tetu, cental Kenya, has exhumed the body of their kin who was buried by lover instead of the wife as culture dictates.
The remains of Hudson Wanjohi Ndumia were unearthed under strict supervision by the police on Friday.
Ndumia succumbed to burn injuries in his private parts on May 10, and the alleged lover hurriedly buried him on May 22 without the knowledge of the man’s family.
When the deceased’s family learnt that he had been buried, they went to court seeking an exhumation order, which they granted.
Following the exhumation, the former clinical officer’s body was taken to a nearby morgue awaiting an autopsy.
His family alleged the deceased sustained the injuries during a domestic squabble with his 50-year-old lover.
A villager who spoke to the Standard Gazette disclosed that Ndumia had fled his home after falling out with his wife.
“He has been living with her lover whose husband died some time back. His wife knew that and everyone else in this village” said the village, who spoke on anonymity.©Standard Gazette, 2021.
