Gor Mahia’s coach Carlos Pinto has been crowned the Football Kenya Federation (FKF)-Premier League coach of the month of May.
The Portuguese beat Zedekiah Otieno of KCB and AFC Leopard’s Patrick Aussems to the award whose winner takes home a trophy and ksh50 000 ($500) cash prize.
In May, the defending champions registered a hundred per cent win against their opponents. They beat Nairobi City Stars 1-0 before walloping Sofapaka 2-1. In other matches, Gor outshined Vihiga United 1-0 and recorded a similar scoreline against Wazito.
Over the weekend, the 18-time Kenyan champions suffered a shock 2-1 defeat in the hands of Western Stima. The defeat saw them drop from position three to four with 38 points.
The leaders took the lead in the fourth minute through Rodgers Ouma, and Michael Karamor made it 2-0 in the 60thminute from the spot.
Gor’s only goal came from Geoffrey Ochieng’ in the dying minutes of the match.
