Hundreds of thousands of Kenyans took to the streets on Friday, protesting against the high cost of living, making life difficult in the last few months.
The hungry Kenyans responded to the call by the Chief opposition leader Raila Odinga who has been rallying the government to reduce the cost of living.
Odinga and other opposition leaders are also protesting against the Finance Act 2023, recently assented to by President William Ruto, that hiked takes, pushing citizens to the wall.

Protesters began demonstrating as early as 7 am (local time), and police did not waste time lobbing teargas to disperse them. Some of the towns affected by the protests were Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Machakos, Kisii and Lodwar.
In some areas, the protests were peaceful, but in others, the protesters engaged police in the running battle.
Odinga led the anti-government protests rally at Kamukunji Grounds in Nairobi, after which he directed his supporters to march to the Central Park in the Nairobi Central Business District.
However, the police blocked their way by hurling tear gas at them. By the time of this publication, they were still struggling to access the park.
