Con artist arrested in Kenya’s Rift Valley

Isaac Serem disguising as a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) service personnel was on Friday 26th November arrested at Soy area in Eldoret, Kenya’s North Rift, for suspicion of recruitment fraud.

The suspect, while in possession of a fake KDF calling letter, was attempting to con a female victim Ksh. 400,000 (approximately $4000) in the pretext of securing her daughter a slot in the just concluded KDF countrywide recruitment exercise.

He is currently in police custody awaiting presentation to court for prosecution.

KDF reminded all Kenyans to be wary of con men, noting that the recruitment exercise has been concluded.

“Any person purporting to assist anyone secures a slot into the military is a con and should be reported to the nearest police station or KDF hotline numbers,” said KDF
