Self-confessed serial killer Masten Wanjala has been beaten to death by a mob at the Mukhweya village, Bungoma, western Kenya, just days after he escaped police custody in Nairobi.

Bungoma police boss Musyoki Mutungi said the 20-year-old man was killed on Friday morning.

The culprit was lynched after being flushed out of the home where he had gone to take cover, according to Mutungi.

On Tuesday, October 12, Wanjala escaped from Nairobi’s Jogoo Road Police Station under mysterious circumstances.

On Wednesday, October 13, he was scheduled to appear in the Makadara Law Courts.

He had been accused of killing at least ten children between 2019 and 2021.

Shortly after his arrest, he took police to at least six murder scenes in Nairobi’s Shauri Moyo and Western Kenya, where he had disposed of the remains.

He led officers to scenes in Shauri Moyo, Nairobi, where he admitted to killing and discarding two youngsters, according to police.

Wanjala also led the detectives to Kabete during the search, where they recovered two more victims’ bodies from a river believed to have been killed by the suspect.
