A domestic brawl between a couple in Majengo, Kilgoris, Kenya’s Rift Valley, turned fatal when the man’s attempt to beat his wife with a wooden object missed the target and injured his 8-year-old daughter instead.
Esther Kaiseyi, 21, and Amos Maengwe, 30, who were at odds with each other, quickly stopped fighting and carried their daughter to the hospital for treatment.
They were stopped along the way by police officers on the beat, who took them to the local Kilgoris sub-county hospital to assist save the minor’s life due to the state of the small girl, who had a major cut on her head.

The minor succumbed to the injuries while undergoing treatment in the facility.
When the inquiry is over, the pair will be arraigned in court and charged with murder.
