Former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga was released on Tuesday on Ksh. 100,000 ($703.5) cash bail.
Njenga was on Monday arraigned in Makadara Law Courts, Nairobi and charged with the possession of offensive weapons such as bows, arrows and machetes.
He was also charged with conspiracy to commit a crime and arranging an unlawful assembly.
Additionally, he was charged with trafficking narcotics drugs.
He was charged alongside his brother Peter Kamunya and guard Felix Lakishe.
Njenga was arrested last Wednesday and taken to a secret location, said his lawyer Ndegwa Njiru.
According to his family, he was apprehended at his father’s house when police in unmarked cars stormed their home.
