Kenya’s High Court on Thursday, January 30, 2025, ruled that former Governor Okoth Obado together with his co-accused Michael Oyamo and Caspal Obiero, has a case to answer in connection with the murder of university student Sharon Otieno.
Lady Justice Cecilia Githua stated that the Prosecution had established a prima facie case against the three suspects.
This implies that Obado and his co-accused have to respond to the evidence presented against them by the prosecution.
“Prosecution represented by Catherine Mwaniki, Gikui Gichui, Allen Mulama and Bessie Gikonyo closed its submissions in this case in June 2024 after presenting 42 witnesses, including a journalist,” said the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP).
Obado, Oyamo and Obiero are accused of murdering Ms Otieno and her unborn child on the night of September 3, 2018, in a forest within Homa Bay County, Western part of the country.
The case will be mentioned on February 25, 2025.
