Detectives have arrested a suspect of robbery and rape who has been on the run since February 17, 2024.
John Mwangi Wanjahi is accused of luring a 40-year-old woman into a business deal only to commit the abominable act.
He was flushed from his hideout in the Kabete area, on the outskirts of Nairobi, and a phone stolen from the businesswoman was recovered.
“In the February incident, the victim reported at Kikopey Police Post in Gilgil that a man posing as a customer who knew her had called her to Nairobi CBD to discuss a business deal on some supplies that he needed, but turned against her when she boarded “his” car to go to a convenient place for the discussion,” said the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
“On boarding the vehicle, she had passed out only to gain her senses hours later to find herself abandoned in the same car at a thicket in Gilgil, robbed of cash Ksh17000 ($120) stripped half-naked and raped.”
The suspect is being held in police custody pending arraignment.
