In a renewed push to promote integrity and accountability in Kenya’s public service, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has partnered with the Kenya School of Government (KSG) to launch joint capacity-building programs.

The collaboration aims to drive a culture of transparency and responsibility within public institutions nationwide.

The partnership will be implemented through the National Integrity Academy (NIAca), the training arm of EACC.

The training will equip public officers with the necessary skills and knowledge to prevent corruption and uphold ethical practices in their respective roles.

During a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony held on Tuesday at KSG Headquarters in Nairobi.

EACC CEO Twalib Mbarak and KSG Director General Prof. Nura Mohamed expressed their commitment to advancing the fight against corruption through targeted education, training, and research initiatives.

The partnership is seen as a strategic move in addressing long-standing corruption issues, which have plagued Kenya’s public service delivery and governance for decades.

Mbarak, while speaking at the event, emphasized the importance of institutional collaboration in promoting transparency within the public sector.

“The fight against corruption cannot be won in isolation. We need strong institutions, well-trained personnel, and a shared commitment to integrity.

This partnership with KSG will enable us to build capacity in the public service to foster a culture that rejects corruption and embraces accountability,” said Mbarak.

Prof. Nura Mohamed echoed these sentiments, noting that education and training are critical tools in changing the mindset of public servants.

“We believe that through this partnership, we can create a more responsible and ethical public service. Our programs will focus on empowering public officers with the skills needed to resist unethical practices and make integrity the foundation of public service in Kenya,” he stated.

Under the MoU, EACC and KSG will collaborate in developing comprehensive training programs to build public servants’ capacity in areas such as anti-corruption laws, ethics, and governance.

The training will target senior and junior officers to ensure the entire public service is equipped with the knowledge to foster transparency and accountability in their roles.

This partnership will also focus on research to identify systemic weaknesses in public institutions that may enable corruption.
