Easy Coach, a bus company in Kenya, has announced a fare increment effective August 1, 2023.
In a statement, the company said the fare will rise by Ksh.100 across all routes.
The company noted that the fare increment has been caused by the increase in the Value Added Tax (VAT) on fuel.

“Please be advised that as a result of the recent increase in the fuel Value Added Tax (VAT), we are obliged to incorporate this adjustment into our fare rates,” read the statement.
“The fare for all our routes will be adjusted upwards by Ksh1OO effective 01/ 08/ 2023.”
The fuel tax was increased from 8 to 16 per cent in the Finance Act 2023, bringing uproar in the country.
Despite the court suspending the act, the Energy Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) increased the prices of petrol, diesel, and kerosene by Ksh13.49, Ksh12.39, and Ksh11.96.
