Eight people in possession of illicit brew arraigned in court

Eight people were arraigned in a Kisumu Court to answer charges of Contravening the Alcoholic Drinks Control Act 2010 on Wednesday, December 1, 2021.

The suspects were arrested on Tuesday during a joint crackdown with the National Administration Officers (NGAO) at Burlo Village, Kisumu East Sub-County, Kenya’s Lake City.

At the same time, police recovered 410 litres of Kangara and Chang’aa (some of the local brews).

“Arrests were made possible by information shared to us in the confidence of the existence of a notorious and unlicensed illicit brew den in the area,” read the police report.

Police have asked Kenyans to detach themselves from unregulated brews, saying they have adverse health and social complications effects.

The officers further called or concerted effort to ensure Kenyans remain safe as they make merry this festive season.
