Ex-National Museums of Kenya General Manager Mzalendo Kibunja Arraigned Over Graft Allegations

Mzalendo Kibunja, the former General Manager of the National Museums of Kenya, and seven others appeared before the Milimani Anti-corruption Court on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, to respond to allegations of corruption.

Mzalendo is accused of embezzling more than Ksh491 million, which was paid as salaries and gratuities to individuals who were allegedly employees of National Museums of Kenya.

Mzalendo Kibunja, Stanvas Ongalo Opija, Oliver Okinyi Rabuor, Wycliffe Odhiambo Ongata, Oscar Mwaura, Oscar Mwaura T/A Altcoms Enterprises, and Florab Technical Services were charged with ten counts of corruption.

They pleaded not guilty to all counts and were released on Ksh5 Million ($38000) cash bail with an alternative bond of Ksh10 Million ($76000) with one surety.

They were also to surrender their travel documents to the court.

The matter will be mentioned on May 2, 2024.
