A man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for the horrific crime of defiling his 12-year-old stepdaughter in Kwale, Kenya’s Coast.
Resident Magistrate Ruth Ogolla found Mangisi Chaka Mangisi guilty of defilement, violating Section 8(1) and Section 8(2) of the Sexual Offences Act, 2006. He was also convicted of committing an indecent act with a child under Section 11(1) of the same law.
The disturbing incidents occurred in Kayawaa village, Waa Location, Matuga Sub-county, between April 2021 and November 2022. The court heard that the accused repeatedly assaulted the young girl while she was in his care.
The prosecution, led by Assistant Director of Public Prosecution Collins Orwa and Counsel Mahdy Twalib, presented five witnesses whose testimonies were crucial in securing the conviction.
