Fight Over Alcohol Caused Death In Laikipia County

A 70-year-old man is being held in police custody over the alleged murder of his friend, 27, following a fight over alcohol in a village in Laikipia County, Kenya's Rift Valley, on Sunday.

James Kiugu was reportedly stabbed to death John Kiptoo using a kitchen knife.

The incident occurred at a beer den where the duo were in the company of others.

Reports indicate that the two got into a fight, and later the suspect went for the knife and stabbed the deceased several times.

The deceased died due to excessive bleeding caused by the injuries inflicted on him.

The perpetrator narrowly cheated death after enraged residents attacked him with blows and kicks. Security officers intervened just as he was about to be lynched to save him.
