Five people killed in Meru by bandits

At least five people were killed in a suspected revenge attack following the killing of 25 camels by unknown perpetrators in Meru, Eastern Kenya on Monday evening.

According to locals, around 7 p.m., armed bandits ambushed and killed two people on motorcycles near KK a local school on the Meru-Muriri Road. The two were killed on the spot.

One person was killed when shots were fired at a vehicle travelling the same route.

Another two people were killed in the nearby woods, not far from the school.

The conflict is blamed on a dispute between camel herders and farmers.

No arrest has been made but the police as launched investigations.

Meanwhile, security officers has been deployed in the area to quell the rising tension.
