Former Murang’a Governor Mwangi Wa Iria’s wife, Jane Waigwe Kimani, has been charged alongside David Maina Kiama at the Milimani anti-corruption court in Nairobi with misappropriating Ksh351 million ($2.6 million) from Murang’a County funds.

The two pleaded not guilty to the charges. They were released on a Ksh5 million ($37000) bond with a surety of a similar amount or an alternative cash bail of Ksh1 million ($7462).

The court, through Chief Magistrate Victor Wakhumile, ordered them to deposit their travel documents with the court and to refrain from leaving the country without the court’s consent.

The matter will be mentioned on May 14, 2024.
