According to Maurice Odine, the area Assistant Chief, the tanker was dumping fuel at the aforementioned petrol station when it suddenly broke into flames.

The fire devoured the gas station before spreading to two neighbouring businesses, both of which were burned to the ground.

Five motorcycles and a vehicle parked nearby also caught fire.

The injured person is a 12-year-old child who is being treated at the Yala sub-county hospital.
