Danish Defense Attaché (DA) to Ghana Lieutenant Colonel Lasse Sand and Ghana’s Director Naval Training, Naval Captain Dennis KA Eghan, early this week paid a courtesy call on the Deputy Commander Kenya Navy Brigadier Lawrence Gituma at the Kenya Navy Headquarters (KNHQ), Mtongwe, Mombasa.

The visit aimed to benchmark the existing training programs at the Kenya Navy Training College (KNTC) as provided by the Maritime Cooperation Agreement between Kenya and Denmark.

The two toured the Full Mission Bridge Simulator (FMBS) and the Firefighting Multi-purpose Unit at the KNTC.

They were also briefed that, through the Maritime Cooperation Agreement, the two facilities at the KNTC offering International Maritime Organization model courses has seen the College upgrade to a Regional Centre of Excellence for the training of Maritime Security Personnel.

The two leaders visited the Kenya Navy Clearance Diving Unit (CDU), where they were briefed on their operations.
Officer Commanding the CDU, Major Rashid Mohammed, indicated that the support from the Danish government has been instrumental for the Divers’ training for mission readiness within the maritime space.
