A goldmine collapsed on Thursday morning in Kakamega, western Kenya and buried 15 young men who were working at the site.
“This morning at around 2am, a goldmine caved in burying 15 young men in Sigalagala Village in Kakamega County,” said the police.
So far, eight people have been rescued and rushed to Kakamega General Hospital in stable condition, while seven others are still trapped.
“National Police Service Officers and County Government Officers together with emergency response teams from the County, Red Cross and the locals are on the scene helping with rescue mission,” added the police.
The rescue mission is ongoing.
