A security guard died on Monday after four dogs attacked him in a yard in Nairobi's Embakasi estate.
Jonathan Lelenguiya, a guard at a private security company in the same neighborhood, was walking home after an overnight shift when he decided to stop by a yard to greet a friend and colleague.
When he arrived at the yard, the dogs, which were loose, began to chase him as he scampered for his safety.
However, he was overpowered by the dogs that pushed him onto the ground, mauling him as he shouted for help.
An attempt by the handler to save the deceased from the jaws of the ferocious dogs did not bear fruits, forcing him to call for help. They managed to contain the dogs, but they were too late, as Lelenguiya had already sustained severe injuries.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Nairobi police boss James Mugera said police are investigating the incident.
“We are investigating the incident to establish what happened and how,” he said
The incident came just a day after another man was killed by four dogs in Kisumu.
David Ondere Opinya was bitten by the dogs on the neck, lower right arm, and other body parts on Sunday, killing him on the spot.©Standard Gazette, 2021.
